The Triple P is an evidence based programmed developed by the University of Queensland that aims to help parents manage children’s behaviour in a constructive and non-hurtful way. It is based on building good relationships with children and use positive strategies to help children develop.

Fostering Self-Regulation in Pre-Schoolers [1 – 2hrs]
Children’s ability to self-regulate, follow directions, pay attention and minimise disruptive behaviours are essential skills for educational attainment.
Self-regulation is the ability to express thoughts, feelings and behaviours in socially appropriate ways. Learning to calm down when angry or excited and persisting at difficult tasks are examples of self-regulation.
Using principles from developmental, cognitive behavioural theory and “The Whole Brain Child” (Siegel & Bryson, 2011) this talk will provide tips for parents to manage disruptive behaviours, temper tantrums and melt down and strengthen your relationship with your child.
Cultivating Empathy in Pre-Schoolers [1 – 2hrs]
Empathy yields kindness – a quality that parents hope to instill in their children. Kindness inspires courage to stand up for ourselves and others. It enables a child to get along with their siblings, collaborate and work together.
Social interaction and social competence are fundamental to human happiness. Socially competent children are a result of positive quality relationships with parents, caregivers and peers.
Parents and important caregivers create children’s expectations about relationships that will affect and guide them throughout their lives. Using social development and learning theories (Siegel & Bryson, 2011), parents will learn how help their children develop healthy mindsets and self-concept in order to develop empathy for and connect with others through appropriate behaviours.

Positive Psychology: the Science of Happiness [1 – 2hrs]
This talk aims to raise participants’ awareness of positive psychology activities (PPA) that increases personal well-being and understanding of how they can achieve better work-life flow through practicing PPA. Positive psychology is the scientific study of the strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive. PPA are activities that increase well-being by promoting positive thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Systematic reviews have shown PPA to be effective in reducing depressive symptoms and increasing well-being, compared to non-intervention controls. The talk will introduce participants to a few simple PPA that they can self-practice to increase their well-being and attain better work-life flow.

In today’s world of instant access to information, incessant streaming of entertainment, proliferation of mobile devices and wireless network and 24 x 7 communication, we are in danger of being too busy. The world is demanding more and more of us but there is only one of us. Our bosses expect us to maximize our “talents”, and our family is getting the shorter end of our time and energy. We are overloaded. What we need is margin. In this program, we will learn what is Margin and the impact of a margin-less life, and cultivate 4 Margins in our lives – Emotional Energy, Physical Energy, Time, Finances.
